Senior Citizens Visiting Holland Beware!!

by Madeleine Kando

If you are sixty-five or older and plan to travel to The Netherlands, it is important that you read the following announcement.

It has come to our attention from a very reliable source in the Rick Santorum for President Campaign, that the Dutch Health Care System is now giving geriatric patients lethal injections, whether they are ready to die or not.

Of the Dutch senior citizens who are brave enough to seek medical treatment, ten percent will be euthanized! Unless they wear a wrist band with the words 'DO NOT EUTHANIZE ME' clearly marked in large red letters, the system will make mincemeat out of anyone sixty-five or older.

Senior citizens no longer seek medical care in The Netherlands. They opt to stay at home and rot away rather than go to these Dutch slaughter houses they call hospitals, where an army of overzealous butchers are at the ready, injection needle in hand.
Some Dutch over-sixty fivers are playing it safe and have taken to wear a permanent tattoo on their arm. After all, a measly plastic wrist band can easily be overlooked by these Mengele look-alikes in their white coats.

If you plan to visit beautiful Holland, please make sure you visit a Dutch Language certified tattoo parlor prior to your departure. They will expertly and speedily tattoo the words: 'Niet doodmaken alstublieft' (please do not euthanize me) on your forearm. To see a full description of this important announcement please go to: Rick Santorum for President.

During your stay in Holland, take extra precautions when doing any type of streneous physical activity, like biking, swimming or even walking. Make sure you wear your wrist band or tattoo at all times. If you do get into an accident, it is strongly advised to return to the US for treatment. Do not go to a Dutch Hospital!

If all else fails, dye your hair, go for a botox treatment and lie about your age before you talk to any Dutch member of the medical profession. leave comment here

This announcement has been provided as a courtesy to the general American public by the Rick Santorum for President Campaign. The Dutch 'Geen Stijl' publication has contributed to the humor.

Wow, I would be scared everytime I went to the hospital if this were the case in America. Every country has some type of scarry tactic and when I read this email, I was reminded that life is very unpredictable. I hope to vist Holland at some point. I will make sure to get your advice and maybe the next time you travel to Holland I could fly there as well to explore this part of the country. How interesting to have a rule such as this in place; maybe the citizens of this country will protest or we could go to Holland and make some noise about this ourselves. I guess every culture has some type of ridiculous rule in place and who knows why...

Of course you realize that this post is meant as a spoof on the ridiculous remarks that Santorum spewed forth during an interview on 'American Heartland'. There is no such thing as forced euthanasia in Holland. People don't wear wrist bands with the words 'do not euthanize' and all the other nonsense that he says about the Dutch system are pure lies.

Yes, euthanasia is legal in The Netherlands, but only 2% of all dealths are a result of euthanasia. It is extremely difficult to get something like that approved.

I am concerned that if you think this is all true, then how many other uninformed Americans believe what this man says?

My uncle in Holland is 97. Recently he fell and broke his hip - I am amazed at the care and rehab he is receiving.
