Ata Kando made these photos around 1958. They were never published. It is a love story that could not be told better than through Ata's incredible photographic talent. I publish it here posthumously, in honor of her upcoming birthday, on September 17th.

Daniel said: BRILLIANT! I don't know what else to say, as I am so touched, devastated by these amazing pictures. It has hit something deep in me, I cannot explain.
Please, tell me more about Ata Kando, about the people in these pictures.

As a „hunger child“ she came to the Netherlands and stayed here married s Dutch surgeon and went to Sumatra ans stayd with three children on Java in the Japnees concentration camps.
Thank you for the beautifull pictures of a love couple.
Best whishes,

Thanks Madeleine, so good to see! I saw the pictures. Ata is always there! I have still a bottle of Barack with only a little drop of liquor in it. I never touched it again. Tomorrow I will empty this bottle and say chears to all of you!
